Montenegro Joins SEPA: New Opportunities for International Payments and Investments
As of October 7, 2025, Montenegro has officially become part of the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA). This historic step enables citizens, companies, and investors to make faster, cheaper, and more secure euro transfers across Europe.
Money transfers between Montenegro and 40 SEPA countries, including all EU member states, are now processed under unified European standards. This makes everyday payments, real estate transactions, investments, and international cooperation much easier.
Key SEPA Benefits:
- ✔️ Free transfers up to €200 per day to SEPA countries
- ✔️ Electronic transfers up to €20,000 – fee only €1.99
- ✔️ Transfers over €20,000 – fee €25
- ✔️ Faster and more secure transactions following EU standards
Joining SEPA is the result of close cooperation between the Government of Montenegro, the Central Bank, and commercial banks, with support from the European Commission and the World Bank. This integration brings Montenegro closer to the European financial space long before full EU membership.
For real estate buyers and investors, this development opens new opportunities: international payments are now simpler, more cost-effective, and more secure — making property purchases and investments in Montenegro even more attractive.
